What do you think of CCM's brand-new Digital New Release Guide? We launched our first issue in April with newsboys on the cover, and our second issue came out this month featuring Leeland. We'll be doing a new one each quarter. I'm interested to hear what you think about the digital issue so far! What do you like the most about it? What do you like the least? How does this format compare to the old print magazine? What features interested you the most? Did you like the video and audio streaming? What would you like to see in future digital issues?

And, if you haven't had a chance to check out the digital issues yet, click the links below:

The new digital issue looks great. I just wish it were in print. I know a lot of magazines and newspapers are going online-only, including CCM, but I'm not a fan. I used to get CCM for years, and I really miss having it in my hands and curling up on the couch to read it from cover to cover.

I'm in my 20s, I love Christian music, but I'm having a hard time getting used to the new format. When CCM went online, I subscribed to the online magazine to give it a try. But I feel scatterbrained looking at a Web site with so many links. I miss the color photos and one story (or so) per page.

As for the digital issue, I may give it a try since it looks more like a magazine than a Web site, but I'm not really a big fan of reading news online. I'd rather have it in my hands. I really miss the old, in-print CCM, and I hope it comes back someday.

I liked the article about BarlowGirl and Leeland. Can you buy the CCM magazine that you get in the mail?

Nope. CCM no longer publishes a print edition.

I'm in my 50's and absolutely hate these electronic magazines and newspapers. I hate that I have to sit in front of my desk on an office chair instead of easing back in my recliner, or having a four pound heat source on my lap instead of a few ounces of paper and ink in my hands. Ever try to read a laptop while you're laying in bed or on a sofa? You can't.

I like it, but the bummer is you can't take it with you like you could with the hard copy. Mags are fun to take on the bus, read in the restroom, etc.

I'm a website developer, I love digital media but I'm afraid I don't want my magazines in digital format. CCM was always one of my favorites but I don't like it this way.

I think the Digital New Release Guide is just fine. It gives a quick look at headlines, with enough of a teaser description to let a reader decide which articles are of intrest to read.

I'm curious about the person who posted that they didn't like it, but didn't say why. I know other commenters here have expressed annoyance at the loss of print media. Complaints at the difference between a 4 pound heat source on the lap, as opposed to a few ounces of paper in the hand. Being a blind person, I'd much rather have that 4 pound heat source as opposed to a similar weighing braille book in my lap. At least the online, digital versions are interactive. Just a clik, and it's off to the article I want, type a key word or two in a box, hit a button, and I can findwhat I'm looking for in the entire web site, not just this issue of the magazine.

Possibly if reading in print is that important, maybe a person could visit each page of interest and print them all out. In that case, maybe CCM, or any magazine publisher might offer a PDF version for easy download, and ready to print on a local machine. PDF's can be formatted to match the look of the web page, and even include clickable links.

I notice that on the CCM Magazine home page that there is music snips that are piped in. As a blind person who relies on listening to a screen reader to read me the page, the added noise is distracting. Possibly just have no sound, with a link or button to click to start/stop playing if a visitor wants to hear it. That way it's available, and will save bandwidth when people decide to not stream it.

Just some ideas.
