Two of dd's teacher's resigned, her IPS Honors and Language Arts. Her science teacher's grandmother has Alzheimers (SP) and needs to be cared for full time and her LA teacher's husband is dying.

Please pray for the teacher's, their loved ones and the 8th grade students who will now have to adjust to a new teacher in IPS and with subs (6th & 7th grade teachers) in LA until someone is hired. The kids have to turn in a writting sample next week that will be used to determine entrance into high school magnet, IB and private schools.

That's really hard... for the teachers and for the school/students. My department head just resigned yesterday and it's hard for a school to replace a teacher in the middle of the semester. Of course, in her case, she left on maternity leave with absolutely no intention of coming back, but didn't tell the principal until the last possible minute so that she could get paid for her six weeks of leave It sounds like the teachers in your school have a lot going on and their decision to leave was probably a difficult one. I hope the school can replace them soon and that the students will not be affected negatively by the change.

that's tough, traci. My dd's language teacher had to quit because of her own health. One of my good friends interviewed for the job yesterday. We'll see.

DD's class was assigned her LA teacher from last year. She is very excited because Ms. H was wonderful and dd's writing improved so much last year. We are actually hoping that the 6th and 7th grade LA teachers are willing to give up one of their free periods to take over the 8th grade classes (with a pay compensation of course).

The IPS class has a new teacher beginning Monday with the exiting teacher staying on for a week to help her get acclimated to the curriculum (sp) and students.
