Basically this is a story about a 13 year old girl born in Washington state who was going to Mexico because her mother and 2 brothers were being deported and her and her 6 yr. old American born sister were going with them. Eventually a Christian philanthropist reached out to them and is helping the teen stay.

This is a sob story to me and it's the mother's fault not the US governments fault that this family is torn apart. Many say that it is un-Christian like to want illegals deported and have seen slogans such as "Who would Jesus deport?". I think it's funny that many people who scream for "separation of church and state" all of a sudden want to invoke Christianity in order to breed compassion and sympathy among people.

We are a nation of laws and those who break the laws should pay for it. Constitutionally these anchor babies are American citizens, but if their parents get deported the kids should either go with them or don't complain about being separated.

What say you?

The citizenship loophole that encourages illegals to sneak up here while pregnant to have "anchor babies" needs to be closed. Problem solved.

I wish it was that simple, but there is that little part in the 14th Amendment that's a little problem:

Although it was originally amended to include slaves and blacks born on US soil, it turned into a protection for illegal immigrant babies.

Amendments can be rescinded.

Consider the 18th amendment. That one didn't even make it 13 years.

let's suppose a single mom commits robbery and is convicted and sentenced to prison for a period of time...she and the child are also going to be separated...would it be more proper to not imprison the woman for the crime because of she and the child will be separated...i don't think so and if the crime is say premeditated murder she could be sentenced to life in prison...people who say, "her only crime is in wanting to come to America for a better life for herself and her child" just don't get it...the laws on immigration were put in place for a reason and should be upheld...to those of you who don't subscribe to this reasoning i can only reply..."what are we having for dinner? i'll be there around 6:00 p.m."

One can always hope. They had tried to pass a bill in TX that would deny benefits to children of illegal aliens but as far as I know it died.

I agree and have used that same logic. One would have to be heartless for wanting a criminal to pay for their crime.

Let me know where you live and I will invite myself over. As long as I do jobs you don't like doing such as laundry or dishes, you will not be able to get rid of me. If you don't like feeding me, housing me, etc, too bad, there will be others protesting and defending my right to be there and will also call you a racist.
