Generally I believe the heads are made of papier mache. If you want to make a "real" one, I would start by forming the head roughly out of chicken wire, covering that in papier mache, and painting it. Or, you can just use a large box for the "head" part, tape on a smaller box or a couple of pieces of foam for the "nose", cover that in butcher's paper or papier mache and paint it. The body is basically fabric, either buy wild fabric or paint something plain. Here's a step by step: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=23&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnetdays.edna.edu.au%2Fcontributors%2Fdragon.ppt&ei=eTokSfrAGIrKtQPt9tz8Dg&usg=AFQjCNEQ1s-OtN8LQFDAxW5rsqJO8wrWmQ&sig2=W-hcHW5t3XA7UJvlihBU1g This head is also cute: http://family.go.com/2008-halloween-costume-contest/costumes/chinese-dragon-3027/ Kimonos are pretty straightforward. Basically you have a very straight "tunic" part with the front halves overlapping completely, then you have long, rectangular sleeves sewn to that. And, of course, a wide sash (obi) to cinch the whole thing in (the proper method of tying it involves lots of layers and is really complicated though. heh.) It takes forever to get dressed in a real kimono, so I strongly advise a "simplified" version. Just make sure the left side overlaps on top, unless you're dressing a corpse. http://www.japanesekimono.com/kimono_fabric.htm Here's a simplified one. http://habitual.wordpress.com/kimono/ You know that kimonos are Japanese though, not Chinese, right? Chinese traditional dress is generally a qipao for women, and is a lot, well, tighter, than a kimono. Or they can wear cheongsams, which are a little looser. Granted the kimono is based on the Hanfu robes but the Hanfu robes I've seen look different from a traditional Kimono, mostly in that they're not nearly as stiff, the sleeves tend to be more rounded especially for women, and their belt styles are very different. What kind of fish are you looking for?

Heh. I know that feeling. Whenever someone says "Hey, you're really good at crafts and sewing and stuff, could you..." I brace myself...

When I read the subject, I thought that you needed the services of my son--"The Dragon-Slayer" Without bragging, I can say he's the best dragon-slayer in these parts. Not one dragon has been sighted since he became the dragon-slayer (complete with his trusty dragon-slayer horse...also in costume) around 4 years ago.

Is your son named Daniel? I heard he fed a cake (The Body of Jesus) to the Dragon behind the bel worship before. One Body, many Sons. quote:
